Mrs. Lisbon was the mother of the Lisbon sisters. She rarely left the house, but the narrators said that she had brutally cut hair and wore librarians glasses. She was extremely religious and fulfilled the gender role of a woman because she stayed at home and took care of her children and the house. As the book progresses, it is obvious that she is depressed because she stops caring for her children and her house after Cecilia's death.
